My name is Asher, I am 15 years old, and I love my
dog Max. Some know me as a genius. Others know
me as a romantic. I know myself as a max dog fanatic.
He is the light of my life. My favorite anime is Neon
Genesis Evangelion or Monster. My favorite musical
artists are Kanye West, Bjork, and Aphex Twin.
I first watched Neon Genesis Evangelion 2 years ago and have rewatched it twice since. I've also seen all of the rebuilds, my favorite rebuild is the second one. The ending was crazy. If it wasn't for the ending my favorite would probably be the fourth one. A lot of people hate the random concepts that they throw into the plot like the anti-universe or imaginary angels but I LOVE that stuff. My other favorite anime is Monster. I haven't rewatched it (because of how long it is) but I loved the story. I love stories that take place over a long period of time. I think Monster takes place over 10 years? But even more than that, I love the villian. Johan is definetely my favorite villian of all time. I loved every single scene he was in.
My four favorite movies are Juno, Whiplash, Parasite, and Paprika. Juno is a comedy movie about a teenage girl that becomes pregnant and decides to keep the baby. She comes in contact with a family that wants to adopt the child and she agrees. The plot makes it seem like it would be some pro-life mess but its a funny and comforting movie. The main character is played by Elliot Page, who is one of my favorite actors. Whiplash is a drama about a drummer who becomes obsessed perfection with his increasingly demanding college professor. JK Simmons plays an accepting and kind father in Juno but in Whiplash he transforms into an insane and violent perfectionist. He performs the role perfectly and it cements him as one of my favorite actors. Parasite is a really good drama about a poor Korean family that becomes entangled with a super rich family. The second half of the movie is so full of twists and turns and some parts of the movie turn to dark comedy. The final of the four is Paprika. Paprika is one of the movies that inspired Inception and you can tell. Its about a machine that allows therapists to see into their patients dreams, with real-world consequences. The entire movie is packed with stunning visuals and plays out like a dream, scenes hasily transitioning from one to another. This movie made Satoshi Kon one of my favorite directors, most people like Perfect Blue more than Paprika, while it's close I definitely think Paprika is the better movie.
My two favorite books are Dune and Kafka on the Shore. I haven't read the sequels to Dune (yettt) but the first book really stands on its own. It's hard to describe what this book is about because the scope is so large but its mostly about a royal family that moves to a planet with the most expensive material in the universe. Its all an allegory for the oil situation in the middle east. Kafka on the Shore is about a 15 year old boy who runs away from home and an old man who speaks to cats. The chapters of the book about the boy are introspective and dark while the chapters on the old man are mostly light hearted with a dark core.
